Virtual Academy's Telecommunications courses allow us to work at our own pace and they continuously release new courses throughout the year. The Training Management System gives us the ability to manage all training records and conduct policy management in one system. They are available for all users 24/7 to provide tech support and they are always open to feedback and new course suggestions.
CANDY CAPRA, Duty Supervisor, Emergency Communications, Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, Metropolitan Airports Commission, Minnesota
The quality of Virtual Academy courses are great! They have Telecommunication courses as well as Public Safety courses. This gives our staff the opportunity to take a variety of courses and not get pigeon-holed into one area allowing them to grow and expand their knowledge base at a very affordable investment per user.
Jennifer Kirkland, ENP, CPE, RPL, ARM-P 9-1-1 Center Manager | Grand Junction Regional Communication Center
“With the COVID-19 Pandemic raging throughout the country and our community our face-to-face trainings classes came to halt. We began searching for a platform that would allow us to deliver quality training to Telecommunicators from nine different PSAPs without compromising their well-being.  Virtual Academy’s training and platform was a perfect fit for our 9-1-1 district and our PSAPs because it eliminated the hassle of us having to keep track of certain documentation that was needed to report training. In addition, Telecommunicators could complete the training virtually without compromising their well-being. Since Virtual Academy is already partnered with TCOLE they take care of reporting any training we take on their platform directly to TCOLE. Their platform also allows us to reach out to all the Telecommunicators within the district. Virtual Academy was truly built for the needs of 9-1-1.”
Jose Garcia Jr., Public Education/Training Coordinator, Cameron County Emergency Communication District
It is not an easy task to remove 9-1-1 professionals from their daily responsibilities to attend continued education with our busy workload. Virtual Academy provides telecommunicators across the State of Tennessee to attend quality training within a virtual environment. Training can be completed during lower call volume periods, which is also cost effective due to limited travel and overtime expenses which are normally required. We, at Jefferson County 911, believe that Virtual Academy is a great benefit to our profession.
Justin Crowther ENP, CMCP, Executive Director, Jefferson County Emergency Communications District
When we started looking for a training partner our goal was to find a system to manage all of our training records in one place. Although we are a small PSAP it is a great feature and certainly a more convenient way to manage records on a daily basis.
Karan Wilkins, Autauga County 911, AL, Operations and Training Manager
The Virtual Academy platform has been providing valuable, self-paced training for our Communications Specialists for over a year. The course content and the presenters are extremely knowledgeable and provide essential training that is relevant to Mississippi's Public Safety Telecommunicators. Their platform is very affordable and saves time and cost to our agency.  Virtual Academy's customer service and sales team are available 24/7 and open to feedback giving their customers the absolute best experience possible. As Department Head, my only regret is that I did not purchase this training platform sooner.

Quite frankly, when I looked into Virtual Academy and realized the affordability, high-level training and then found out they were a TCOLE approved provider it was a win, win, win.  I also work with 12 agencies, so when I found out they do pool submission it was the fourth win!  So far I’ve been thrilled with everything from the platform being easy to use, like assigning training instantly, to my options for notifications from anywhere; it seems obvious it was designed specifically with our needs in mind. We also appreciate that since Virtual Academy works with our PD, there’s a great symmetry we get to take advantage of when we both work on the same system and can share knowledge through a shared online training platform.
Merle Luster, ENP, 9-1-1 PSAP Operations Coordinator, Ark-Tex Council Of Governments
As a skeptic by nature, I wasn't sure about virtual training in the dispatch world.  When I was told about Virtual Academy, and then reached them, I had a long list of questions and concerns that I needed addressed before I was comfortable considering them as a training provider for my team.  From their director to IT, every question was answered, and they listen to our needs and implement courses we ask for and features that can help us save time and resources.
Rob McMullen, ENP, Executive Director, Knox County Central Dispatch, Vincennes, IN
There's no replacing face-to-face training but we're still in COVID times so if I can supplement training with up-to-date, engaging courses taught by trusted names in 911, I'm going to provide that to my team.  I may not be able to lose them from the seat to send them off for training, but I can bring training to their seat, even with their 5-minute roll calls, I'm setting my Emergency Communication Specialists (ECN’s) up to be better prepared for their next call.  I will say, Virtual Academy has gone from training provider to training partner as far as I'm concerned.
Rob McMullen, ENP, Executive Director, Knox County Central Dispatch, Vincennes, IN
As the Training Manager for a 9-1-1 center, it’s my responsibility to ensure staff meets all State mandated training requirements, so when legislation requiring T-CPR training was on the horizon, we started researching options to comply with the coming change. I knew it would be challenging, but when a well-known training provider quoted me nearly $50,000 to get our employees certified, I was in dis-belief. For one course, even an extensive one, that cost just didn’t make sense. When we learned that Virtual Academy would be offering a virtual T-CPR course through our partnership at no additional cost to us, we were amazed. Budgets are shrinking all the time and Agencies are being forced to re-think how they deliver training to their employees. Virtual Academy hasn’t just gone outside the box with their solutions, they demolished the box entirely. The value of developing a partnership with a company that understands the unique needs of Public Safety and 9-1-1 center training is immeasurable, and Virtual Academy just gave me 50,000 reasons to continue that partnership.
