About the Course
This course provides an in-depth introduction to ballistic shield use for law enforcement. It addresses common criticisms, highlights benefits, and debunks misconceptions about shields. Justin Miller from High Risk Rescue will discuss performance statistics related to officer-involved shootings and residential CQB deaths, emphasizing the importance of shield deployment as well as fundamental shield principles, different shield types, and proper pistol shooting techniques while utilizing a shield. Essential skills like reloads, malfunction clearing, and support-side proficiency with a shield are demonstrated.

Justin Miller
Justin Miller is currently a Training Officer at Picayune Police Dept (Oct 2023 - Present) and the Company Owner of High Risk Rescue (Jul 2015 - Present), where he provides training and education on high-risk public safety topics. He also serves as a Deputy (SWAT Medic) for Pearl River County Sheriff's Dept (Oct 2003 - Present).
His previous experience includes working as a Fire Crew Chief for PAE / Fluor in Afghanistan (Jul 2015 - Sep 2017), a Technical Sergeant in the Mississippi Air National Guard (Mar 1997 - Mar 2017), and a Captain and Training Officer for the City of Poplarville Fire Dept (Mar 1998 - Apr 2014). He also held the role of Medical Sergeant in the Mississippi Army National Guard (Mar 1997 - Mar 2004).
