About the Course
This course equips law enforcement officers with essential knowledge to combat racial profiling. Students will learn to define racial profiling, recognize how it manifests in daily operations, and understand its negative legal and ethical ramifications. Through discussions of real-world incidents and case studies like the Tae-Ahn Lea traffic stop, the course emphasizes the importance of intelligence-based policing, proper investigative techniques, and adherence to legal authority. Ultimately, participants will gain strategies to counter racial profiling, fostering public trust and ensuring successful legal outcomes.

Dr. Marc Brown
Dr. Marc Brown has 14 years of experience as an active police officer and has been involved in law enforcement training for 12 years, including five years as a physical techniques instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC). He holds a doctorate in education and organizational leadership with an emphasis in organizational development. Dr. Brown is an expert witness and consultant in criminal and civil courts involving police use of force and tactics. He is the lead instructor at the University of South Carolina's Excellence in Policing and Public Safety Program and also works as a consultant and instructor for Polar Solutions.
