About the Course
This course gives patrol officers a detailed look at proper response techniques for
death investigations. Particular emphasis is placed on the two main types of death
investigations: suspicious undetermined deaths and apparent natural deaths.

Jerry Rodriguez
Jerry Rodriguez has 35 years of law enforcement experience. He was formerly the Chief of Investigations for the County District Attorney. He has worked as a probationary patrol officer and worked his way through the ranks as a field training officer, investigator, supervisor, manager, and executive. He has experience in internal affairs, professional standards, use of force and officer-involved shootings. He has developed policing protocols and investigative protocols on officer-involved shootings that are still being used today. He has also developed lesson plans for officer-involved shootings and use of force investigations, including internal affairs. He has a Bachelor's degree in management and a Master's degree in leadership. He also has numerous certificates and continuing education in law enforcement courses.
