Role of the SRO

Duration

2 Hours

About the Course

This class of instruction is designed to give students the tools to strengthen the

relationships between law enforcement, school administrators, and students.

Law enforcement must possess character traits that allow them to wear all the

hats needed in a school environment. Their roles are diverse and

responsibilities vary on a consistent basis.

Administrators are often times unclear on when to involve officers in incidents

that occur on school property. This class of instruction will assist in establishing,

selecting, and training of School Resource Officers, responsibilities of law

enforcement on school property both administratively and legal, mentorship of

students, training of staff and students, as well as helping to create partnerships

and resources for parents, students and staff.
