Beyond Alcohol - DUI Investigations Involving Designer Drugs

This course addresses the growing challenge of designer drugs in toxicology. Taught by forensic toxicologist Jolene Bierly, it provides law enforcement with essential tools to identify the effects, appearance, and packaging of popular designer drugs. The course will cover how these substances, mimicking traditional drugs, pose significant public safety risks due to impaired driving. It will also delve into advanced drug testing methodologies, including immunoassay, LC-TOF MS, and GCMS/LCMS MS confirmation, and discuss the prevalence and impact of various designer drug classes like stimulants, opioids, benzodiazepines, and cannabinoids in driving investigations.
